    The Adriatic Institute is one of the institutions of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. It is specialized in problems of maritime law , transport law , and international law of the sea .

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

    The institute members work continuously on long-term research projects which are supported by the Ministry of Sciences, Education and Sports (former: Ministry of Sciences and Technology).
    They collect and analyze data related to Croatian and foreign legislation, and to judical and arbitration practice.
    They study codification and unification of the maritime law, problems of marine and costal delimitation in relation to our maritime jurisdiction. Special attention is paid to the matter of liability for pollution damage and legislative control.
    One of the important topics is a study of ship contracts concerning the carriage of passengers and goods by sea.
    The institute members provide expert opinions, advice, and other forms of assistance to government authorities and institutions and cooperate with faculties, shipping companies, insurance companies and other related institutions in Croatia and abroad.
